Services such as workplace risk analyses, detection programs and nursing care were put in place at QIT as early as the 1950s. In fact, health and industrial hygiene have always been a priority for the company, making it a forerunner in a new movement that would emerge only much later in Quebec industry.

Today, QIT continues the tradition. Teams of health and industrial hygiene specialists work together toward a common goal: protecting the health of employees. Developing annual action plans that emphasize information, training, processes and equipment upgrades, and medical monitoring, QIT gives priority to preserving hearing, controlling carbon monoxide exposure, encouraging respiratory health, and promoting overall health.
