Though QIT ranks among the safest Quebec companies in its sector of activity and has recorded a significant decrease in workplace accidents over recent years, it maintains its ultimate goal: to eliminate all accidents, whether involving QIT employees or partner companies.

To reach this goal, QIT invests in prevention and regularly holds safety awareness and training sessions. Problem-solving teams play an active role in implementing solutions adapted to their work area. More recently, the focus has been placed on reinforcing safe behaviour. Studies show that risky behaviour causes almost 90% of on-the-job accidents. The STOP program (safety at work through preventive observation) has been implemented at both the metallurgical complex and the mine.
