The year 2000 was one of festivities for QIT – Fer et Titane as we proudly celebrated our 50th anniversary with our employees and partners. A history of the company, Fer et Titane, la force de la détermination was published. The history recounted the innovations that had marked each decade and allowed us to become the world leaders that we are. At Havre-Saint-Pierre and in Sorel-Tracy, public expositions that recounted the first 50 years were organized in the local interpretation centres. Open houses were held at the mine and the metallurgical complex for the families of our employees and retirees. At the same time we were able to officially inaugurate the new UGS facility before invited government dignitaries and our partners from different milieus.
