Throughout its history, QIT has continually improved its
processes. After initially concentrating on developing and
perfecting a process unlike no other in the world, it took on the
challenge of diversifying its product line as it set its sights on
the metal powder and steel markets. Several technological
breakthroughs would subsequently sharpen the competitive edge of
these products. In the last decade, it has devoted its efforts to
developing, marketing and fine-tuning the UGS process. By expanding
the product line to include UGS™, an enriched titanium slag sold to
pigment producers that use the chloride process, QIT has secured a
strong position in a flourishing market.
QIT-Fer et Titane was founded on research and development, and
R&D continues to drive its growth strategy. In keeping with company
tradition, QIT allocates sizeable resources to R&D every year.
Approximately
$12 millions go to R&D yearly.
The
QIT research team is made up of some 100 specialists, researchers,
engineers
and technicians.
